CareTracker Success Story Bethany Village Centerville, Ohio Situated in Ohio, just south of Dayton , is Bethany Village , a continuing care retirement community sponsored by Graceworks Lutheran Services. Bethany Village enriches the lives of their residents through an entire continuum of social, recreational, spiritual and healthcare services. In the health care center, one of the ways resident care is enhanced is through the use of Resource System’s CareTracker system. Before CareTracker, staff recorded ADL information on paper during the resident assessment window. Now, with CareTracker’s touch screen monitors, information is collected every day, every shift, providing them with information about the residents, resulting in a more efficient MDS process. Suzie Martin, director of information systems at Bethany Village , describes the implementation. “It was the easiest installation I’ve had in my tenure at Bethany Village . There was almost no learning curve. We had several brief training sessions and then everyone was online.” Using CareTracker has provided many benefits to Bethany Village . Bethany Village has taken advantage of the way the system can be customized, and has implemented other areas beyond the standard clinical documentation. For example, they have created a way to track when a resident sees his or her pastor. “Staff has responded well to the system. They like being part of the new wave of technology offered at Bethany Village . It gives them a sense of ownership and responsibility for the residents – they feel their input is critical to resident health”, adds Suzie. Assessment nurses like the system because it gives a faster, more accurate detail of residents who are having problems (i.e. low fluid intake, no bowel movement, no activity, etc.). “CareTracker is an excellent data capture product”, exclaimed Suzie.  |
