Lafayette Manor of Uniontown, Pa. and Resource Systems of New Concord, Ohio joined forces to provide better care to residents through the CareTracker system. All indications are that the 95 residents at Lafayette Manor are the big winners.

According to the Lafayette management team, CareTracker replaced the long-time cumbersome and often tedious manual system associated with paper forms and, in a very short time, the residents were enjoying a new level of improved and efficient care.

For those new to the concept, CareTracker uses wall-mounted touch screen technology for documentation and monitoring of the care provided to residents. Those implementing the system report dramatic improvement in the quality of care, increase in reimbursement accuracy, and greater accountability for audits and surveys.

Lafayette Manor is no exception to the trend. Following a two-day onsite training session involving management personnel who would be working directly with CareTracker, the stage was set for all the caregivers to become familiar with this user friendly system. “The immediate results attributed to CareTracker were truly impressive,” according to Lafayette management.

From the early stages of implementation, management was aware that it was possible to focus quickly and accurately on ADL totals. Adjustments in the care of a resident could be made at any time simply by hitting the “report” tab and in seconds the caregiver would be viewing up to the minute and accurate information.

Lafayette management states that a higher percentage of behaviors and depression indicators are being captured because of CareTracker. Representatives from numerous facilities have requested and were granted tours of Lafayette Manor to view the system first hand. Without exception, all have indicated a desire to procure the system.
